I don't understand this report (and certainly don't think it is resolved). It
is necessary to know the precise scenario, because,

 1. You can put an .odt file in OneDrive just fine. Leave the .odt extension
on it.

 2. You should also be able to do a Save As that changes the format to .doc
(using the Save As type "Microsoft Word 97/2000/XP (.doc)(*.doc)".

 3. What you should *not* be able to do with any assurance of success is
*rename* an .odt to a .doc without actually saving it as a .doc. I.e.,
changing the extension from .odt to .doc on the save, without changing the Save
As type will create a mess. If you bring that back into Apache OpenOffice, you
will get garbage. You should be able to confirm that without using OneDrive at
all.

Jon C,

Please clarify which case is the one you experienced.

PS: If you look at your OneDrive using a web browser, you'll notice that the
Web interface does not show the file extensions. So you should keep your file
names different without respect to the extension used. But if you download a
file, it will arrive in exactly the format (after any online editing) that you
uploaded, with the original extension (.doc, .odt, etc.).
