The second example worked as well. These were all using Microsoft Windows 8.1 x64. Version 3.4.1 is no longer under maintenance. Please install Apache OpenOffice 4.1.1 and see if the problem persists. You do not have to uninstall 3.4.1 until satisfied that 4.1.1 is working for you, although 4.1.1 might be the one that opens automatically afterwards. Obtain the download at <http://openoffice.org/download> and from no other location. Once you click "Download Full Installation" do not click *any* "Download" button on the next page that appears. Any of those are ads for different software. Just wait for the download to start and then respond to any question about where to store the install file. Please let us know of the result, here, so that we can determine whether to keep this report open or not. PS: It would be very helpful if you do this to confirm that the problem is not present for you when using AOO 4.1.1. If you prefer to stay on 3.4.1, though not recommended, see what version of Microsoft Word your friend is using.
