I had "no problems" with "previous versions" of Openoffice until I updated. Now I just install openoffice on a brand new computer of Windows 7 pro and installed Openoffice v4.1.1 and still can't open it from the shared folder under Public folder, even when Openoffice is already running. I know it uses java, so could it be a java v8 31 32 or 64 bit and I even have java 7 75 64 bit that I do need as well so don't ask me to uninstall. Did you try to open the file locally?
