--- Comment #3 from orcmid <[email protected]> ---
I notice this in AOO Calc 4.1.1 also, using the example of 3/4 and 3/4/2015.

Even if I change the format of the fields to Date, the problem still occurs.

If, however, I use the ISO format for entry, 3-4, everything works, and
03/04/15 displays.

(I normally set YYYY-MM-DD format for the presented format of date entries, and
when I switched to that, the display of 03/04/15 automatically changed to
2015-03-04.

WORKAROUND

In Calc, go into Tools > AutoCorrect Options and delete the entries for 1/4,
1/2, and 3/4.

It appears that AutoCorrect happens regardless of the type of entry being made,
and that forces the input to Text format.

Once I made the AutoCorrect change, entry of 3/4 in a new data-formatted cell
using the ISO format automatically displayed as 2015/03/04.

[Note: I am using the en version of AOO 4.1.1, with Default - English (USA)
Language setting for "Format Cells". My default date-time format on all
versions of Windows is with the same format, although this might not be a
factor in the described incident.]
