You might also want to look at the post Using Recuva to un-delete Writer temporary files at https://forum.openoffice.org/en/forum/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=1532&start=390#p371983 which explains how to recover now deleted temporary files created by Writer while you were editing the file as you can often recover the bulk of the data from the file. Can you upload a copy of a damaged file so that someone can have a look at it.
