@Norman: does the crash happen only on the Startcenter?
Try running OpenOffice from with the Terminal.app, open the word processor with
the following command:
/Applications/OpenOffice.app/Contents/MacOS/soffice -writer
The crash report look different from bug 127143 (this bug happens on iMacs, but
only with macOS Sierra, not El Capitan)
