There are many other options which Writer presents to use, e.g. simply change the width of a paragraph. Try different possibilities of anchoring. Some positions are only possible by entering the position inside the dialogue. Writer always places the anchor in the near of the object. It is a missing feature from the beginning that it is not possible to hold the anchor of an object at a defined point and drag the object in relation to this anchor.
