          Issue ID: 128075
        Issue Type: DEFECT
Summary: OO does not produce a directory Tree for opening or
                    saving files.
           Product: Writer
           Version: 4.1.6
          Hardware: PC
                OS: Windows 10
            Status: UNCONFIRMED
          Severity: Critical
          Priority: P5 (lowest)
         Component: save-export
          Assignee: [email protected]
          Reporter: [email protected]
  Target Milestone: ---

OK the forums are proving unhelpful with this issue.

OO does not save files I create. I have tested this several times by creating a
practice file, then trying to save. The result is the same when I use the
file/save file/save as or if I use the icons.1) no directory tree appears so I
cannot chose the directory in which to save and 2) even though I "save" the
file, when I try to close OO I get a message saying that the file has not been
saved.

The same situation exists when I want to open an existing file. No directory
tree so I cannot navigate to where my files are kept.

Here is what I have done, based on suggestions in the forums: install a java
runtime environment. In my case Oracle JRE 8.something, changed the default
directory using tool/options/something. Various other things that were
suggested in the forums.

I presume, but have not tested, this with other components of OO, but since
they all feed off of the same tools/options setting I have no reason to believe
they are misbehaving the same way.

As I see it, the key is that OO offers no way to navigate via a directory tree.
Since every other piece of software I use work as they should, I lay this issue
at your feet. If this problem cannot be solved, I will have no choice but to
uninstall OO and find a different open source or freeware solution.

Thanks much for taking a look at this.

Chuck
