Since it isn't being specified, the `hairpin-mode` should default to `promiscuous-bridge` which should be fine. I guess you could add `--hairpin-mode=promiscuous-bridge`, but it probably won't make a difference. That probably rules out kafka being a problem (but if you could grab `kubectl logs kafka-0` it would verify that).
