Summary: Make container scanner generate metadata checksum for use

As part of design discussions for identifying container divergence and fixing
it incrementally with EC, we will need a metadata checksum (in addition to the
data checksum) added to each level of the container merkle tree. The specifics
of how this will be generated should be documented in a write-up. It would be
nice to have this as part of phase 1 so that the checksums have largely already
been generated by the time we are ready to actually support EC
