@kerneltime After some testing, it seems that making the use of hostname the default option breaks the system except for a kubernetes environment due to pipeline allocation to datanodes. To make this work we would have to make a lot of changes and this PR would grow out of hand unnecessarily. Went back to using the flag for hostnames and now everything works and we still have the desired outcome, that the ip and hostname are both available at the client.
