thswlsqls opened a new pull request, #10874:
URL: https://github.com/apache/paimon/pull/10874

   ### Purpose

   fix #10873

   - With `partition.timestamp-format.strict=true`, the DATE setup documented
by #10464 (`yyyy-MM-dd` + `$dt`) fails on every write: the validator sees the
epoch day (`dt=20755`), not the date.
   - Only happens with strict enabled plus an explicit formatter or pattern;
defaults are unaffected.
   - `PartitionTimestampValidator` now converts DATE values to `LocalDate`,
same as `PartitionExpireStrategy#convertPartition` (#10464).
   - Only DATE values change; other types and NULL handling are unchanged. A
DATE with a mismatched formatter (e.g. `yyyyMMdd`) is still rejected, now with
a readable value in the message.
   - TIMESTAMP partitions are out of scope (#10851).

   ### Tests

   - Added `TableWriteTest#testPartitionTimestampValidationWithDatePartition`:
`yyyy-MM-dd` + `$dt` writes and commits; `yyyyMMdd` throws with `dt=2026-10-29`.
   - Without the fix, the new test fails with `Partition dt=20755 does not
match ...`.
   - `mvn -pl paimon-core clean install` (JDK 11, checkstyle and spotless
included) passed with 0 failures; `PostgresqlCatalogTest` was excluded locally
because it needs Docker.
