> In the absence of real-world examples where this is happening already (…snip…) For what it is worth, the use of CRS beyond (_east_, _north_) axes is actively explored in OGC Testbeds for a few years: [Non-Terrestrial Geospatial](https://docs.ogc.org/per/23-042.html) engineering report (ER), [Extraterrestrial GeoTIFF](https://docs.ogc.org/per/23-028.html) ER, [3D+ Data Space Object](https://docs.ogc.org/per/23-011r1.html) ER and more. There is really a demand for that (e.g. for referencing images taken by drones), and the apparent lack of examples is because peoples don't know how to do that with current software. This is a chicken-and-egg problem and is why those OGC Testbeds exist. However I agree that it should be a discussion for GeoParquet. I mentioned those points because I though that the [above proposed CRS string](https://github.com/apache/parquet-format/pull/240#discussion_r1696385308) was specific to this Parquet project. -- This is an automated message from the Apache Git Service.
