[~reidchan], thanks for checking in. I think the biggest problem was that I
couldn't get Lev's changes to work for me locally, even in a standalone
environment.

At this point, I think I'd be +1 if I can show it working myself (but having
some kind of automated test would be really awesome – I don't much care how we
do it at this point).
