Chinmay Kulkarni commented on PHOENIX-5607:
-------------------------------------------
[~stoty] I see, thanks. This Jira is used for backwards compatibility testing
so we download the binaries for x number of previous versions. Currently
Sandeep has hardcoded client-compatible versions in his patch, however now we
will need to get them at runtime since the hbase version is variable.
[~sandeep.guggilam] perhaps you can sync with Istvan about how to get the hbase
version at runtime.

> Filing this as a blocker for 4.16.0.
> As we've seen with the various failed attempts to release 4.15.0 Phoenix'
> backwards compatibility story is weak, and lacks tests - in fact there're no
> tests.
> We should not allow to ship 4.16.0 without improving that and without tests.
> [~ckulkarni], [~gjacoby] , FYI, what we discussed.
