@virajjasani, PR looks good. The title of the jira does not reflect the PR well. This is not a general query performance improvement. It is a metadata lookup performance improvement. I would suggest something like "Metadata lookup performance improvement for range queries". This PR does not have any tests for checking the number of metadata lookups for range queries.
