Joel Bernstein commented on SOLR-9963:
--------------------------------------
I'm curious to see what others think of this as well. Over time I've come
around to mindset that we should focus all of our efforts on a strong
integration with Apache Superset which is a python driver.
My feeling here is that by focusing on one very strong, open source
visualization tool we can support it very well. Rather than supporting a range
of viz tools each with their own SQL strategies for doing things.
I'm a bit biased because I love the Superset user experience and visualizations.

> Apache Calcite Avatica has an http endpoint which allows Avatica drivers to
> connect to the server. This can be wired in as a handler to Solr. This would
> allow Solr to be used by any Avatica JDBC/ODBC driver. This depends on the
> Calcite work from SOLR-8593.
