[~janhoy] To prep the {{main}} branch for the next major version there are
really only a few things to be done, which IMO would be part of prepping for
the major version release:
* Finish the Major Changes page for the upcoming release.
* Consolidate the content from {{solr-upgrade-notes.adoc}} for the previous
major version and move it to the Major Changes page for the upcoming release.
* Make a new Major Changes page for the future major version (10.0 in this
case).
Since we have SOLR-15757 for the first 2 items on the list, it was in my head
to do the 3rd - this issue probably isn't needed. Something about prepping the
Ref Guide should be in the release wizard, but it feels heavy to ask the RM to
do the actual tasks on top of everything else. They should make sure it gets
done but probably they don't have to be the ones to do it, if that makes sense.
There may however be other things that need to be done for specific versions.
In the current case of 9.0, there are a few things to be decided at least,
which might lead to things to be done - SOLR-14444 made a ton of changes to
page names, I filed SOLR-15557 to consider if we want to try to provide
redirects for those and AFAIK no one has commented on that yet. I didn't make
it a blocker for 9.0 but it sort of is if someone thinks we should do something
there.
