HDFS was deprecated in 8.x, so everyone kind of expects it to be gone. Thus, if
it instead re-surfaces as a module, labeled as "experimental" or "beta" or "not
yet fully tested" or whaterver - we still give users more than they expected to
get :)
Regarding marking things as "not ready", see my comment to dev-list thread

should make a dev-doc to agree on how to release features in alpha, beta and
finally GA
