My perspective is that if you want to start solr, then do bin/solr start -f...
These weird tricks and hacks that exist are cool for the person who created
it and totally understands it, and is totally a thing to trip you up.
We probably do need to make sure the various places we document things that we
don't actually tell users to do "bin solr -f"!!!
