The project itself never styles it as k8s: https://kubernetes.io/
I think we need to call it Kubernetes consistently too.

I can see using 'k8s' in software identifiers like package names for brevity. 
Still, consider whether everyone gets what k8s is? It's obvious to us that have 
seen it a hundred times, but not clear someone who's new to hearing about what 
it is would get it.

Although it's not quite analogous, we insist external sources say "Apache 
Spark" not just "Spark" and have rules around use of the project's trademark, 
so kinda feels like we should use other project's names as they seem to wish to 
do as well.
