Hyukjin Kwon created SPARK-61073:
------------------------------------
Summary: Raise KEY_NOT_EXISTS for a missing field of a StructType,
and parse the JSON type of StructType.add, in the Python client as PySpark does
Key: SPARK-61073
URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/SPARK-61073
Project: Spark
Issue Type: Bug
Components: Connect
Affects Versions: connect-rust-4.3.0
Reporter: Hyukjin Kwon
In PySpark Connect, {{StructType[name]}} raises the {{PySparkKeyError}}
{{KEY_NOT_EXISTS}} of the name for a field that does not exist, and
{{StructType.add(field, data_type)}} parses a str {{data_type}} as the JSON
value of a data type, such as "integer", raising {{CANNOT_PARSE_DATATYPE}} for
one that is not, such as "int".
The Rust-backed Python client raises a plain {{KeyError}} for a field that does
not exist, and parses a str of {{add}} as DDL. Take them as PySpark does.
