Erik Weathers commented on STORM-2937:

Unlike what I'm at least doing it with reading/writing, unfortunately I'm not
good at listening/speaking English so if we can't understand the semantic with
text, audio chat will not work too.

[~kabhwan]: fair enough. But please explain *how* you did the backport in a
bit more detail. Did you just do what I said above about copying the
{{external/storm-kafka-client}} content from the newer branch to the older
branch?
{quote}
find and apply divergence in storm-core between branches which is introduced
from storm-kafka-client patches.
{quote}

Also, how did you do that ^^? Did you enumerate all of the commits in
{{external/storm-kafka-client}}, and grep through the diffs for changes to
{{storm-core/}}?

> Overwrite storm-kafka-client 1.x-branch into 1.0.x-branch

>          Components: storm-kafka-client

>            Priority: Blocker

> This is to track the effort of syncing up divergence between
> storm-kafka-client 1.x-branch and 1.0.x-branch so that critical fixes can be
> go in 1.0.x-branch as well.
> Note that it can modify storm-core as well (unlikely in a
> backwards-incompatible way but not 100% sure), so we should make a decision
> whether we allow the change in bugfix version line.
