Hi @muyangye, thank you for outlining the different options and discussing the pros and cons. Since they all have a disadvantage, I would suggest a 4th option, with a combination of your solutions. Perhaps you can provide a migration script (see [1]). With this we can update all entries to the new version. This should (hopefully) solve the backward compatibility issue. What do you think?
