I would like an option to force uniform spacing for digits.
I am working on a project that uses a LOT of numbers. (yes, a calendar)
I notice that the figures do not line up properly. Specifically, I am using the
font Liberation Sans, and the numeral 11 takes up much less space than the
numeral 10 or 12. This digit combination acts the same way in the numeral 2011.
I have run an experiment. If you type these three lines of digits:
111111111111
121212121212
222222222222
then you will see that the bottom two lines are the same (or very nearly the
same) width, whereas the top line is markedly shorter.
This is an issue in Liberation Sans and also in Times New Roman.
I do not want to be forced to test all possible digit pairs every time I switch
to a new font. I also do not want to be shoehorned into using only monospaced
fonts. Hence, my request.
At the very least, I would like to disable digit kerning.
