Good catch. The risk is low since initialize typically happens when DAG is
starting up and most of the other methods wont be called at that time. The only
things that might come in at that time would probably be vertex state updates.
Will add a sync block around it and the final before committing. Thanks
everyone for the reviews. I have tried to test this extensively but there might
still be race conditions left behind. Having this run on a regular basis may
help uncover any leftovers.
