What I would like to see for Performance analysis as a end user diagnosing his
job and also Pig dev troubleshooting user jobs.
Task Duration:
- first task attempt *launched* to final task attempt succeeded ( accounts
for both scheduling delays and actual run time )
Note that it is task attempt launched and not task attempt schedulable.
Vertex Duration:
- total task attempt run time i.e. first task attempt start to last task
attempt finish
bq. actual run time of i.e. time taken by only the successful task attempt
I am good with this option as well. It would not include the rerun times
though.
bq. actual run time of all task attempts
Not something you would want to see as duration of the task. With
speculative execution it would get confusing with each task showing twice the
amount of time. Probably can be a new column if some one sees value in adding
it.
bq. init time + above run time
Most of the vertices are inited as soon as DAG stats. This is hardly of any
use to an end user and I have already resorted to hiding the Vertex Start Time
column from the view.
[~jlowe] mentioned that we should change duration with vertex re-runs and I am
with him on that.
