I can write that part if you want, IMHO it should be trivial. Basically
you'd convert the `switch` to an `if/else` like
```
if (*type == typeid(MgmtInt)) { ... do int type assignment }
else if (*type == typeid(MgmtByte) { ... do cast assignment }
else { lose!}
```
