Where the work stands now:
1. A NOTICES.txt file with the proper text has been added to the root
directory. I notice that some of the subdirectories (e.g. dcs) have NOTICES.txt
files of their own. It might be the case that we need to roll these up into the
top-level file.
2. Copyright text has been updated in all of the subdirectories of the core
directory. (There are a few files in the core directory itself that need
updating. I forgot those.) The other directories in the root directory remain
to be updated. I've looked at a couple of them: The install directory has the
old HP-style copyrights and can be updated in the same way as core was. The dcs
directory has files with TWO copyrights in them: The old HP-style copyrights +
the correct Apache copyrights. The appropriate action is to remove the old
HP-style copyright text from them. I have not looked at the other directories.
3. The copyright text for executables remains to be updated. For sqlci in
particular the text seems to be in file sql/common/copyright.h. The trick is to
figure out what to replace the Hewlett-Packard banner with. The HBase shell
banner has distro and build information in it. Not clear what we should do for
sqlci. Trafci also needs to be looked at.
4. In the installer/install directory, there is a file LICENSE.txt, which
contains a log4cpp GNU license text. We don't use log4cpp anymore, so this file
probably should be deleted.
5. In the root directory, the pom.xml file has <organization>Hewlett
Packard</organization> in it. We need to ask if that should be changed.
