nope. nested boxes always come with the period.
if you have a very limited, fixed set of mailboxes, you can just set
them up as separate stores, hiding the hierarchy from mbsync.

anyway, i wonder what mailer you use which would make the real hierarchy
useful (which pretty much implies hiding the tmp/new/cur folders) but
cannot hide the periods?
