Hello,

A second issue I had from changing folder names, with the backstory
reproduced for anyone coming across it the archive.

I recently changed large parts of my mbsync configuration in order to
get some more consistent folder names across my accounts. I made the
mistake of trying to change the directory names locally, which caused
hundreds of messages to be duplicated. Fortunately I had a backup
maildir, which I used to replace the existing one.

However, before restoring the backup I received a few emails that
weren’t in the backup directory. How can I import these into a maildir
to sync to the server while respecting the UID and sync state system?
The sync state and UID validity file formats and processes don’t seem to
be documented in the man page, so I’m not really sure how it all works.
Something like an `mbsync import' command would be useful for maildirs
not originally managed by mbsync, I think.

Thanks!
