No, I had not done that.
well, actually, you did, as the commands from the blog post do exactly
that.
so let's find out what else went wrong:
you can re-run mbsync with -V to see if it thinks it synced all
messages.
if it thinks so (the number of messages on both sides is equal), just
re-run.
if it doesn't think so, we need to try to reproduce what happened.
create a second maildir store for testing and push into it. make sure
not to use SyncState * here, or you need to repeat the cleanup procedure
first (which would imply that you'd later need to cleanup the imap
mailbox first as well).
in both cases above, use the -D option and send me the resulting log.
but just a wild guess: could it be that the missing mails are marked as
deleted (T flag) in the maildir folder, almost like in peng bai's case?
