*length: 3 months* ** *rate:$ Open/hr* ** *LOCATIONS:Nutley, NJ or New York, NY * We are looking for a Senior Network Engineer with strong Cisco routing/switching background, experience with Market Data/IP Multicasting and an outgoing personality. This is a highly visible position with excellent opportunities for advancement and work in a technically challening environment. Our client is a major *financial* data/media company and needs this Sr. Network Engineer for a 3 month contract role to work with an existing team on Multicasting/Market Data distribution projects. The role will initially be a contract position. This person will act as a Technical Lead for a group that handles both Level III Operations on the production network as well as Design/Implementation of new networks. The person should have 4+ years work experience designing, implementing & supporting *financial* multicast data feed network along with 3+ year experience implementing/supporting Checkpoint firewalls. The requirement for Multicast knowledge is flexible, but would be a great plus. Past experience with *financial* markets ECN or network such as Nasdaq or SIAC is a huge plus. Candidate must have solid (5-8 years total) experience and specific knowledge with ALL of the following: - Design & Implementation with high end Cisco Switches (6500 w/ SUP 720) for example, as well as experience with high end Cisco Routers (7200) - Strong troubleshooting and network testing skills with networking (must be very good with a NG Sniffer), must be able to use WireShark as well - IP Multicasting - BGP, OSPF routing - Market data routing and distribution is highly desired - perfect candidate would be a senior level person within the *financial* services community - Must understand the Cisco product line very well - down to the level of understanding how different interface cards handle packet forwarding, buffering and queuing - Checkpoint Firewall implementation and operations (SPLAT) - candidate does not need to be at a design/architecture level, but should be very familiar with configuring rules and policies. - Understanding network requirements when dealing with business feeds, whether it is data, audio, video, etc. Candidate must have good communication skills, and a very outgoing personality. This person will have some project planning responsibilities, and must be able to motivate others, and basically drive projects to completion. The person must be proactive and have the ability to work with little supervision.
