Job Description: 


Client's Windows Infrastructure team is responsible for installing, 
configuring, and supporting over 10,000 Windows based servers that make up the 
Client's user facing production web site as well as several hundred Netscaler 
and f5 load balancers. We are looking for a Senior Systems Engineer to join a 
complex, challenging, and fast paced dynamic environment. Participation in our 
24/7 Oncall rotation is a requirement for this position. 

The ideal candidate will: 


- have excellent communication and interpersonal skills 
- take pleasure in solving complex technical problems 
- enjoy the challenge of working with and learning new technologies 
- work well under pressure to troubleshoot and resolve production impacting 
problems 
- approach problem solving with the goal of finding the root cause and 
documenting the solution 



Responsibilities: 


- Provide the 3rd and final level of support for eBay's production environment. 
Identify, troubleshoot and resolve problems quickly and effectively. 
- Develop tools and scripts to automate and improve our existing build and 
troubleshooting processes. 
- Participate in a 24x7 oncall rotation to support eBay's production servers 
and load balancers. 
- Build and setup servers to support growth and new site functionality. 
- Recognize processes needing improvement and contribute constructive solutions 



Requirements: 

- 5-10 years experience supporting Windows 2000/2003 servers in a production 
internet environment (at least 200+ servers). 
- Expert level of Windows and IIS knowledge. 
- Strong understanding of TCP/IP networking and HTTP. The ability to analyze 
and understand packet captures is essential. 
- Intermediate to advanced level of Unix skills. 
- Expertise in one or more scripting languages and a strong desire to automate 
the mundane. Perl, UNIX shell, and Windows WMI scripting are a desired. 
- Understanding of Active Directory 
- Experience working with Netscaler or f5 Bigip load balancers. 
Optional but very nice to have: 
- MCSE, Unix, and Netscaler/f5 certifications 
- Experience working with Netapp filers. Bonus for Snapmirror knowledge.
