Position: Technical Specialist, Sales and Trading Content Technologies
Duration: 18 months, rate up to $45/hr on W2 and $50/hr on 1099.
Location: ST. PAUL or NYC
Candidates must have Fixed Income experience with lead/pm, development and
design experience.
JOB DESCRIPTION
The qualified individual will be a senior member of a team developing fixed
income information and analytics products. This team is responsible for
enabling the core infrastructure for reference data used by internal and
external Thomson Reuter's content clients worldwide.
Key responsibilities:
1.. Elicit and refine requirements from business sponsors and transform them
into technical specifications and designs
2.. Perform analysis and research to produce high-level designs and
architecture ready for implementation.
3.. Assist program management in initiating project teams from S&T Content
and appropriate technology groups.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS
Required Skills:
a.. Typically requires 8-11 years combined experience in software
development, management, and design. They should therefore have familiarity
with formal software life cycle and agile development techniques. Candidates
need to have a BREADTH of experience (cannot be just heavy developers).
b.. Demonstrated experience in design of fixed income data models and
structures (Fixed Income experience in DB of some kind)
a.. Strong analytic thinking skills: able to take general requirements or
problem statements and work up detailed implementation plans for the team to
meet them.
b.. Demonstrated experience in all phases of the software development life
cycle from requirements to design to release to ongoing maintenance of
production systems.
c.. Detail-oriented: seeks to understand the "why" behind choices.
Constantly looking to improve quality and maintainability of software and data.
Seeks to understand all the working parts of complex systems
d.. Knows how to balance foundations of design and abstraction with practical
issues of maintainability, time constraints and simplicity.
e.. Leadership: provides design recommendations, assists team members with
design and implementation, serves as individual contributor OR as team lead,
makes recommendations on infrastructure related to the team, mentors and leads
more junior staff as needed.
f.. Excellent communication skills: Communicates regularly, clearly and
precisely, both verbally and in writing to members of the team, people related
to the project, and to management (bridging business and technology).
g.. Ability to work in a multi-cultural environment
a.. Knowledge of financial markets is an advantage
b.. Experience in communicating with middle and senior management
c.. Proven team player & self starter
