Position: Sr. Project Manager w/ Network Engineering

Primary Location: Alpharetta, GA

This is a Network Infrastructure Project Manager position. This position is in 
the Global Network Engineering (WAN) group within the Network Engineering 
organization. The position is responsible for the successful execution of 
networking projects in Nokia's data centers in various places in the world. 
Initially, this position will be responsible for the build-out of the 
infrastructure (power zones) at the Slough data center. In parallel, the 
position will assume responsibility for the WAN connectivity /backbone 
expansion in the Atlanta data center. Further assignments will be made at a 
later time as appropriate.

This position will report to the head of the Network Engineering group. For 
day-to-day activities, the position will be managed by the Senior Program 
Manager of the Network Engineering group.

The position will manage infrastructure networking projects independently, 
ensuring good profitability and quality. Ensure customer satisfaction with 
delivery and implementation services. Has overall profit and loss 
responsibility for the project or sub project.
Main Responsibility Area: Leads project team for medium to large and/or more 
complex network infrastructure projects. Plans and executes the full lifecycle 
of the project. Plans and manages internal and external resources, including 
vendors and procurement. Is responsible for internal and external project 
reporting. Acts as a primary project interface to the customer ensuring good 
customer satisfaction and developing the customer relationship. Shares project 
experience and best practices, knowledge of project management processes, tasks 
and tools with other project managers. Identifies and supports new business 
opportunities.

Scope:
Individual Contributor: Operates autonomously in own subject area. Can analyze, 
develop and implement concepts and solutions as a subject matter expert in 
project management of networking projects. Increased awareness of and 
involvement outside of own subject area. Distils big picture. Makes decisions 
about and prioritizes own work.
Manager: As project manager, this position will guide and manage the project 
team activities on the project. Interprets policies. Ensures existing plans are 
put into operation. Executes and/or oversees processes to meet customer needs. 
Responsible for analysis, design & development of policies, plans, programs. 
Acts with independence and discretion. Develops appropriate solutions.
Impact: Impact is short to medium term through individual and team 
contributions. Scope is primarily within the Network Engineering group. Actions 
and errors impact on program, project or function.

Individual Portfolio: Typically 8-12 years of experience in project management 
in general and 5 years in managing infrastructure networking projects. 
Recognized expert in project management (depth & breadth).

Degree: PMP Highly desirable

Environment: carries out full project lifecycle according to general direction. 
Influences others to support decisions. Works independently with little 
supervision. Analysis of situation or data requires review of relevant factors. 
Solutions can often be checked and proved. Medium collegial or consultant 
interaction.
