Title: SAS ADMIN Location: San Francisco, CA Duration: 6+ Months Required Skills: A minimum of 8-10 years of experience with SAS. Excellent knowledge of SAS 9 architecture and administration Excellent knowledge of SAS 9 products - SAS EG/EM, Metadata Server, Process Server and/or SPDS Strong skills in relational database SQL, preferably in Teradata and/or Informix. Preferred 2-3 years of experience in data warehousing and business intelligence. Must have excellent Unix (AIX) skills and Shell/Perl scripting skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to work effectively in a team or independently. Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience Position Description: SAS Administrator: Responsible for the administration of a variety of SAS products. Coordinates configuration, installation and general troubleshooting of updates, patches and upgrades of SAS software with users. Recommend environment and configuration enhancements that will improve SAS performance. Educate users on SAS tools and best practices as well as new SAS 9 features. Works with end-users to automate SAS processes including dataset layout, data security, audit, cleanup, backups, archiving, execution schedules and application recovery. Conducts impact analysis for new large SAS routines within the environment. Duties include involvement in planning, coordinating and implementing new releases and system enhancements. Manage daily production problems, ensuring effective and timely resolution and communications to the customer. Participate in the analysis, design and implementation of new products or business initiatives. Establishing performance baselines, application tuning, monitoring of servers for usage and load. Investigate and resolve technical infrastructure and server problems working closely with system administrators and database administrators. Liaison with technology groups, business partners & end-users to ensure availability of environment. Document and communicate with the SAS user community regarding system status, best practices & methodologies, and overall system infrastructure.
