NetBackup : configuration of backup-to-disk technology; tape library robot config, restores. ? software development support: troubleshooting compiler issues; package installation for specific support tasks and architecture-specific requirements ? software specific & Configuration setup for: Scientific and Engineering software packages like Gaussian, Maple, subversion, Gams, Ensight, Comsol, intel compilers, various versions of MPI, Fluent, Matlab, Mathematica, Tecplot, and Materials Studio. ? standard stuff: experienced in bash and perl scripting, some [t]csh required for user support; log monitoring (logwatch, custom scripts, USS8), user/group administration, etc. ? Planning, configuration, troubleshooting for lab hardware/workstation interfaces Hardware related: ? layout of RAID 0, 1, 5, and 6 on various hw (commodity JBODs) with various controller boards (SATA, SAS, SCSI u320, 160). Hot spare setup. ? Logical volume configuration; > 2GB volume configuration ? BIOS configuration to customer specs; network boot ? Remote console server configuration (e.g., OpenGear busybox-based on new cluster); telnet and https access configuration, custom scripting for multiple port telnet access. ? Memory, CPU and PCI board installation, configuration and troubleshooting. ? Replacement of failed drives, RAID updates. ? Configuration of ethernet and infiniband switches, incl. configuration of console and network access to configurations ? Effective troubleshooting skills for working with a variety of lab equipment ? interfaced to unix/linux hosts (nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy, electron microscopes, secondary ion mass spectrometry, etc.). ? Interaction with external vendor support staff and EMRE scientific staffers. Cluster-specific items : ? GPU clusters - Graphic Processing Unit configuration and support ? Build and customize RPMs for proper cluster package management. ? Ability to setup/configure DHCP server w/ TFTP server for PXE booting. ? Knowledge how to run serial and parallel jobs on cluster. ? Ganglia, incl. RPM packaging of gmond, gmetad and configuration over multiple clusters httpd installation for gmetad; tweaking PHP script params to support large monitored groups ? torque / maui: compilation, packaging and installation of cluster node clients and head node server software; experience in qmgr for queue creation and modification based on customerrequirements use of torque and maui to support "one-off" requirements such as node-locked licensing for particular software packages monitoring use of clusters requiring queue modifications; interaction of queues with FLEXlm server and licensing; enabling X11 forwarding from cluster nodes to workstations. ? DNS configuration for back-end cluster networks; /etc/hosts configuration for some small installations. Collaboration with networking staff to resolve front-end access issues.
