ID: 55572NJ - INFORMATION SECURITY OFFICER Required Skills: Network_Security,AIX, Solaris and Linux,, CISCO), WANs, LANs *Job Details:* *Targeted Start Date: *ASAP * Duration: *12 Months *Location: *San Francisco CA* Number Of Positions: *1 * * *Interview Process*:Phone+F2F *Rate:* Open Hourly * Job Type:* Contract* Contact Name:* Max Kasha *Job Description:* ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS Under the general direction of the Associate Vice President and coordinating with the other managers of the Division of Information Technology (DoIT), the Information Security Officer (ISO) has the primary responsibility to provide technical guidance regarding all information security matters, through the understanding multiple operating systems, directory structures and databases, and with knowledge of enterprise security management tools, and security assessment software, data transmission, network topologies, firewalls, remote access, vulnerability scanning, and other security related tools such as encryption software, conducts assessments, provides recommendations and overall enterprise technical security management, develops recommendations for standardized campus-wide information security practices, policies and procedures, maintains a campus information security plan, and provides oversight of campus compliance with information security laws, policies, rules, and regulations. The ISO will identify internal and external information security risks; perform risk and cost benefit analyses to determine appropriate levels of security controls; evaluate IT systems plus campus paper document processing systems to ensure compliance with privacy and information security policies and procedures; identify and reduce security vulnerabilities; and monitor and investigate complaints of non-compliance. The ISO will serve as primary liaison with various University departments, including but not limited to Department of Public Safety, Internal Audit, Enrollment Planning and Management, Human Resources and Fiscal Affairs; the incumbent will also advise on campus-wide security related administration; and serve as liaison with other campus ISOs, the Chancellor’s Office and outside auditors and organizations related to information security issues. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND WORK EXPERIENCE Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university in Information Systems, Computer Science or other related field is required. An advanced degree is highly desirable. Eight years of varied professional information technology experience is required that includes significant experience in program analysis, development and testing; a high level of understanding of contemporary hardware and software and network architectures; four (4) years in substantively responsible management positions; experience in the areas of computer, information and network security assessment, administration and management that includes security concepts in information or physical security, and strategic and tactical planning. Security certifications such as CISSP/CISM/CISA and GIAC desirable. Extensive knowledge in the following areas: • Demonstrated experience in information technology security, including performing assessments, developing policies, monitoring compliance, and maintaining best practices. • Extensive systems administration experience in Unix (AIX, Solaris and Linux); Meta-frame, firewall multi-layer design and implementation, router access list / packet filtering (CISCO), WANs, LANs, Internet, Intranets and network protocols (i.e., telnet, ftp, ssh, sftp, scp, etc.), encryption software, enterprise security management tools, security assessment software, intrusion detection systems Virtual Private Network (VPN), RSA SecurID and information security practices. • Knowledge and understanding of web operating environment including apache web servers, HTTPS protocol, Java environment, and web applications security. • Understanding of multiple operating systems, directory structures and databases, how they relate to each other and the associated security implications, with special emphasis on PeopleSoft and Oracle. • Knowledge and understanding of network topologies, firewall, protocols, network access, data and voice transmission, remote access, and vulnerability scanning. • Familiar with and ability to apply time-proven, generally accepted security methods, concepts and techniques. • Knowledge of monitoring and surveillance techniques in order to measure the security functions and identify violations. • Excellent written and verbal communications skills. • Demonstrated ability to work in project team environments -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "it req" group.
