Saya sudah test ide ide yang diberikan di thread ini. At the end the one that kills me is not the HAL, but the device driver which is used to boot the C: drive. HAL tidak menjadi issue, karena kebetulan semua hardware yang pakai adalah mesin dual socket multi core, jadi jelas jelas pakai SMP HAL dan ACPI.
Jadi permutasi boot controllernya di mesin mesin saya adalah normal SATA (ICH) controller, atau Dell PERC 5/i, atau Dell PERC 6/i atau Dell PERC H200. Solusinya adalah menginstall dulu Windows 2003 di target server, lalu melihat di mesin tersebut boot controller pakai driver apa (sejumlah INF dan SYS file) dan HWID-nya apa (Hardware Identifier). Akan lebih mudah menggunakan DEVCON.EXE yang bisa didapat dari WIndows Driver Toolkit. Dengan Devcon, saya bisa search HWID-nya apa, dan kalo tidak punya driver asal (misalkan dari production server yg sudah ada), bisa dengan mudah extract back driver filesnya. Masalah sekunder lain yg muncul adalah kesamaan onboard NIC. Kenapa kalo sama jadi masalah? Ternyata kalo pindah hardware, Network Device Manager masih pointing ke device yang sudah tidak ada (phantom). Jadi walau GUI dikotak katik misalkan mau ganti IP address, setting tersebut tidak nyampe karena masih nyasar ke phantom device yang tidak kelihatan, bukan ke device yang ada, karena terjadi kekeliruan binding. Tapi dengan menampilkan phantom device dari Device Manager, mereka bisa dihapus. Soal cara copy-mengcopy dari disk ke tempat lain bisa pakai bermacam cara. Mau pakai Hi-ren juga bisa, tapi kebetulan saya pakai freeware Dell SMU, bootable Windows PE yg punya iSCSI initiator built in, jadi saya bisa copy ke iSCSI SAN storage saya, jadi bisa ngebut. Di Gigabit interface bisa dapat 50 MBps transfer rate. Dell SMU-nya saya copy ke USB disk, jadi boot-nya cepet juga. Thanks semua atas idenya.
