Hi
We're using iText for a project which is quite critical for the company and some people (who are not necessarily hampered by any knowledge about what they're talking about) have expressed doubts about the iText choice. They'd rather see big-company-names instead of an open-source library like iText. Part of their reasoning is: if it doesn't cost anything, it's probably not worth anything either. Therefore, we'll probably need some billing for iText, or at least the potential for billing, from somewhere, in the future.
In the meanwhile, I'm up to defending the iText choice. I've already found a bit of material, such as the O'Reilly article at http://www.onjava.com/pub/a/onjava/2003/06/18/dynamic_files.html that is very helpful. Is there more?
What would help as well, is the existence of a consultancy company with glossy brochures, that has a commercial "consultancy/training offering" and that stands behind the use of iText. My project manager likes iText too, but he is also looking for ways to defend the choice. I mean, could anybody send me such glossy brochures?
By the way, we're opportunistically using the C# version (iTextDotNet) from Mr. Ujihara Kazuya, because upper IT management is currently more into DOT.NET than into java.
Greetings
Erik
