Can you point me to how I can get started writing the little code to insert images already compressed using schemes not supported in iText?
Look at the image class where it loads images currently. Look at the JPEG support, since it's the closest
You just need to put the data into a stream and set the filter accordingly. Also, be sure to update the PDF version since JBIG2 requires 1.4 and JPEG2000 is 1.5.
