How hard do you think it'd be to convert something pdf2ps (from the ghostscript package) to dump out the generated PDF as PS?
Well, the obvious issue is that GS can only be called from the command line and with files - but assuming those are acceptable limitations AND that you meet the licensing requirements for GS - it should be fine.
