Hmm, well perhaps you can clear up what I am missing here. I was able to copy a field earlier, same page, name, dimensions, no problem. When I finally got the BG and saved it to the dictionary I was able to generate a PDF that had a field with a red background. However, adobe only reported the color to be red. So if I looked at the properties, yes, red was selected as the background color. However until I changed it in adobe it didnt actually render in the PDF as being red.
