Elementary, my dear Watson!
PdfWriter.getVerticalPosition gives you the current Y position.
As long as you don't add the Chapter, the writer doesn't know
anything about it.

So you keep telling me. Likewise I will keep telling you
that section 14.2 in the book explains how to retrieve
the Y position where every chapter/section begins/ends.
Or you could try reading the javadocs and the free online
tutorial instead of saying iText lacks proper documentation,
