Minor correction.   The next version of PDF will be 2.0 to coincide with ISO 
32000-2.

PDF versions go from 1.0 (corresponding with Acrobat 1) to 1.7
(corresponding with Acrobat 8). PDF 1.7 was used as the basis for
ISO-32000. PDF 1.8 doesn't exist.

The PDF format created with Acrobat 9.0 is PDF 1.7, but it's possible to
use Adobe Extensions with a specific "Extension Level".

All future versions of PDF will be defined as such: 1.7 is the highest
possible version number; but there will be different extension levels
from different companies.

I'm sorry, but even regardless of the fact if you're using iText(Sharp)
or not,  your question doesn't make any sense: there is no PDF 1.8 format.

Please rephrase it so that we can understand what you're talking about.
