I mean that when you create the original document, embed the fonts as subset
embeds.

For Linux, check out PDF Enhancer from Apago (http://www.apago.com).

Thanks again.
Do you mean with subset fonts embedding the ttf-s or using the metrik files
(afm) together with the postscript (pfb)?
We are using also fonts given only as ttf.
It's a bit shadowy for me, how the final version looks like.

Our system is running on :

***
$ cat /etc/issue
Red Hat Enterprise Linux ES release 4 (Nahant Update 7)
Kernel \r on an \m

$ cat /proc/version
Linux version 2.6.9-78.0.1.ELsmp
([email protected]<mailto:[email protected]>)
 (gcc version 3.4.6 20060404 (Red Hat 3.4.6-10)) #1 SMP Tue Jul 22 18:01:05 EDT
2008

$ uname -a
Linux 2.6.9-78.0.1.ELsmp #1 SMP Tue Jul 22 18:01:05 EDT 2008 x86_64 x86_64
x86_64 GNU/Linux
***

Can you give me the list of commercial tools?

Regards
Zoltan

Unembedding won't work either.

Subset fonts should not be that large. I ASSUME that the fonts will be subset
embedded and not full embedded...

Thanks for the fast answer.

Another option could be, creating the huge PDF with embedded fonts (ttf)

and unembedding before splitting process. Is this possible using itext?

The last before final option would try is embedding the type1 fonts and

doesn't care about huge files. For this I found the example

EmbedFontPostFacto, I think from Bruno. For this solution need the afm and

pfb files for each used font, isn't it?

For the final option, your proposal, I'll check the system and give you

the answer.

Many thanks once again,

Zoltan

And the only products that I know of that can do this are commercial. If

that's acceptable, I can provide a list if you let me know what OS

platform(s), desktop vs. server, etc.

Do you have any idea, how to solve this problem?

It can't be done with iText.
