You want to do all the editing in the Word/RTF file and then convert to PDF as
the final step.

There are NUMEROUS solutions for Word/RTF->PDF on the server, from commercial
to open source, and running on various platforms.

Subject: Re: [iText-questions] Insert text at bookmark

Yes, that would be the idea. Ok, let me tell you the whole story. Bookmarks
may not be exactly what I'm looking for here. What I really want to do is be
able to take a Word document, put some kind of markers in it, convert it to PDF
(via Word PDF export) and then be able to plug values into the PDF at those
marker points. This may not be possible, I'm just looking at options. Main
thing is that I have to start with a Word doc and end up with a filled out PDF
somehow. Also, I have to do this on the fly on a web server. I have tried
solutions that attempt to convert the Word doc (it's actually an RTF) to a PDF
on the fly on the web server but have not found anything that makes it look
like it does in Word and that is a requirement. That is why I was trying to
convert to PDF in Word and then plug in the values to the PDF. Any other ideas
how I could do this?

Thanks...

Is it possible with iText to find a bookmark in an existing PDF document,
insert text at that bookmark and then save out the modified PDF? If so, can
I get a code snippet?

   ...

No.

Well, yes and no. Yes, but it's very unlikely you'll get what you think you
want. What *do* you want? Are you expecting the text which follows to "flow"
to the end of the document? If the bookmark is just before, "Andrew Jackson's
documented disputes with banks and bankers began ...", and you insert,
"According to Peter Styron, ", do you expect to see

According to Peter Styron, Andrew Jackson's documented ...
