I'm saying that the using unicode encoding for the black square (
http://www.fileformat.info/info/unicode/char/25a0/index.htm) doesn't work
with any of the fonts that come with iText. As in my first message,
writing "\u25A0"
won't work.

Yep, I'm saying that it didn't work, and I did consult ISO-32000-1 as
advised. For the black square it says name = a73 and code = 156. Using
(char)156 didn't work either. Could you please be so kind as to tell me how
exactly I consulted it wrong?
