The latest version is 5.0.6, you can download it from the iText website :

However, please note that 1.5.4 is IIRC a custom flavour of iText used by
Eclipse, and is something like 5 or 6 years old.
Therefore, you *should not* expect any direct compatibility between these
two versions, because of deprecated features, implementations of new ones,
and above all, massive refactoring (the most notable one being the renaming
of the root package from com.lowagie to com.itextpdf).
Such an upgrade will require adjustments in your code.
Finally, let me remind you that since version 5.0.0, iText codebase switched
from MPL/LGPL to AGPL .
